So every so often I inveriabley stumble upon articles like this one so I thought I’d create a list of my favourite beauty hacks, with everything from coconut oil and sugar to the many many uses of cotton buds. Let me know if you use any of these or if you have any to add!
1) Coconut oil can be used as a conditioning hair mask to help keep your hair looking shiny and healthy.
Use sparingly as a little goes a long way and can make your hair look greasy if not washed out properly. Use a good shampoo to wash out the mask afterwards to make sure the coconut oil is gone out of your hair. It can also be used to make split-ends look healthier when your hair is dry.
**Extra Tip:** Coconut oil can be bought in Dealz for €1.49
2) Cold teabags and spoons can be used on eyes.
If you’re prone to puffy eyes when you wake up in the morning apply cold (used) teabags underneath each eye for a couple of minutes to bring down the puffiness, just don’t leave them on for too long or they might stain.
Alternatively, pop two teaspoons into the freezer for a couple of minutes and hold them underneath your eyes, works the same as the teabag.
3) DIY Body Scrub
You can make your own at home body scrub by mixing body wash and brown sugar. If your skin is sensitive you can also mix in some honey or coconut oil to make it softer.
If you’ve decided to try the coconut oil hair mask you can also use the oil as a moisturiser for your body. It will leave your skin feeling beautifully soft.
5) Make your perfume last longer
Apply vaseline to your pulse points (on the inside your wrists and elbows, the sides of your neck, and behind your ears and knees) before applying your perfume to make it last longer throughout the day.
6) Messy hair dye
Remove excess hair dye by dipping cotton buds in nail varnish remover and use it to wipe away hair dye that gets onto your skin.
7) Prevent darker patches of tan
I’ve never actually used this one myself because I don’t use fake tan but I know from friends that there are certain areas more prone to becomming darker when applying fake tan e.g. knuckles, knees, ankles, elbows. When you’ve finished applying your tan wipe away excess tan from these areas with cotton buds in circular motions.
8) Messy nail polish
After you’ve painted your nails, pour some nail varnish remover into the cap of the bottle and dip some cotton buds in it. Use it to remove excess nail varnish from around your nails.
9) Cheap and easy eye makeup remover
If you’ve run out of eyemakeup remover or just don’t want to buy some, dip a cotton bud in warm water or moisturiser and use it to wipe away eye makeup.
